Another eventful weekend.

September 25th, 2006

I really ought to post these thigns ahead of schedule; then again, not too many folks check out my blog to actually appreciate ‘annoucement.’ :P

Saturday, Michelle and I visited a real estate agent to ask few questions and check some things out. Then in the evening, we went to Elaine’s First Social Event in the Fall, a game nite. Met lots of new folks, most of them from Peter’s Karate club. Un/Fortunately the nite consisted of Munchikin games… and a single round at that. Did I mention 4 hours? Perhaps we should have brought it out but Michelle and I agreed it would have been too quite otherwise; there was no Mr. Piano man.

The rec area of Elain’s Condo (Bay & Elm) was quite nice place though, albeit it was a bit dark for my liking. The swimming pool seemed quite nice.

Sunday, I finally managed to attend Word on the Street. I had been meaning to attend this event for past 3~4 years. My opinion? It was very nice. All the crowd, every single one of them book lovers! As I told Michelled there, it felt good to know I am not alone. haha.

It wasn’t simply books, however. There were lots of union and support group for writers, publishers but also kids programs, even some Yoga clubs. I was also reminded of ‘New Age’ deals from COC (Canadian Opera Company). I remember going to Blue Beard’s Castle with Michelle few years back and blown away by their stage works, let alone high pitched italian we couldn’t understand. $20 a pop, we might go again for couple of new shows, such as Così fan tutte in October and Faust in February. February is an awesome month, btw, imo.

Seminar was quite nice. I attened a few at the Wordshop Maquee, narrowly avoided several readings, and visited all the boothes through busy crowds. I even managed to score a book on drawing–the tome mentioned much needed lessons on body proportion, male and female.

While I didn’t buy whole lot of books–as I am a devote library goer…and cheap–I really enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely go again. Who knows, may be next year I will be really looking into Self-Publication companies and agents and publishers. That is, if I get to complete my Nano.

Anyway, I shall leave you with a song that has been close to my heart past few days.

If it means anything, after talking with all the people who played Munchkins last week, it seems you guys were a hit.

They all loved the game and hopes to play it again sometime and that, since they “know” the game now, there would be less time spent at the beginning striving to overcome the learning curve.

I guess you will have to let us know when another opportunity arises, then~ :)

Wait wait… I gotta put this in a question mark.

Jin & Michelle will play another round of munchkin with Peter’s Karate Club friends…. ?

I am listening to a sound track I picked up from “Word on the Street” this year… and so far, my uncultured ear hears one song and can’t distinguish the next…

Except for ‘Libiamo!’ from La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi…

I think I am will definitely go watch this one in May.
